05H00: The beautiful city of Coca will be our meeting point where we will begin our journey. After embarking the canoe, we will navigate for around an hour and 20 minutes along the Napo River to the Taracoa lagoon.
As we arrive at the lagoon, we will have the opportunity to connect with the Amazon in its maximum splendor. First we will walk along a steel scaffolding pathway for about approximately 40 minutes. Here we will enjoy the unique flor and fauna. At the end of the pathway we will embark on a rowing canoe to traverse around the exuberant black water lagoon. This lagoon is home to alligators, piranhas, anacondas and colorful birds that will make us happy with the singing of their sounds. We will also hike in the middle of the jungle to observe primates of different species.
10:30 AM We will travel down the river approximately 40 minutes to our next destination, the Shuar Cultural Center community.
11:00 AM After disembarking our canoe, we will be receive a traditional welcoming with the Shuar ritual of the spear and “Tsaant-tobacco.” This welcome is a fundamental part of the spirituality of the Shuar people.
The welcome ritual will immerse you intimately into the life and essence of Shuar culture. At the center we will share ancesral stories and legends, ancestral knowledge, and the medicinal use of sacred plants. You will get to the experience to ancestral foodways with tastings of medicial spirits and gastronomy. After eating lunch, we will practice ancestral games of the Shuar culture.
14H30 PM Return to the beautiful city of Coca, where we will end our activities.

PAYMENT PROTOCOLS
For your safety and ours we will not accept direct clients at the moment. The purchase of any of the tours on this website must be made online and paid for in full before the start date of the tour.
TRANSPORTATION
Good news for clients who arrive the same day of the tour by air or land, because we can provide transportation from the airport or bus station to the Hotel of your choice and also at the time of tour departure.
COVID-19 Requirements
For the safety of our staff and communities, all passengers are required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test in order to participate in the tour and activities. This must be done within 24 hours of the tour departure.
The tests are available in Coca and have an approximate one hour wait. the cost is between 45$-60$ USD.
For your safety, we are no longer able to provide rain boots or ponchos.

We are located on the south/east bank of the Napo River, in the Flor del Pantano community, within the Yasuní biosphere reserve
HOW DO I ARRIVE TO SHUAR CULTURAL CENTER?
Bus to the city of Coca
A bus from the Trans Esmeraldas or Baños company leaves from the station in Quito, located in Carcelén (in the northernmost area of the city of Quito) or from Quitumbe (located in the south of Quito) at 11 pm (the day before at the beginning. The trip lasts 7 hours. Your guide will meet you in Coca.
In Coca – Address: Eugenio Espejo and Amazonas (next to the safari hotel)
In Coca our guide will transfer you to the Malecón, where we will board a motorized canoe to navigate the Napo River. During our journey down the Napo River, you will enjoy the opportunity to observe the unique flora and fauna of the area. We will travel along this river for approximately 1 hour until we arrive to Shuar Cultural Center
